Clinic

WIC
Breckinridge County Health Department offers WIC benefits to those who are eligible. WIC is a Special Supplemental Food Program that provides nutrition counseling and education, supplemental foods, breastfeeding promotion and support, as well as referrals to health care. This program is specifically designed for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, as well as infants and children up to age five. 
  • Eligibility - Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, women who have a baby less than six months old, infants and children up to five years old. Recipients must live in Breckinridge County, are at nutritional risk, and meet our liberal income requirements. 
  • Make an Appointment - To see if you qualify for the WIC program, please call to make an appointment at 270-756-5121 during normal clinic hours.

Immunizations 
We provide vaccines to prevent communicable diseases such as: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Chickenpox, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Pertussis, Mumps, Rubella, Measles, Prevnar, Menactra, Meningitis. We also offer a flu shot clinic every year.

Cancer Screenings 

New Born Screenings 

Screening for PK, Galactosemia, Fatty Acid Oxidation, Cystic Fibrosis, Amino Acid, Organic Acid Disorders, and Hypothyroidism for newborns not screened at the hospital and breastfed babies. 

Family Planning 
We assist in the family planning process by educating in the following areas:
  • Having children when you want them
  • Being able to prepare financially for your children
  • Being healthier before and during pregnancy
  • Not worrying about an unwanted pregnancy 
  • Making your own decisions about birth control 

​Medical Services
  • Height, weight and blood pressure evaluations
  • Pap testing and pelvic exams
  • Breast exams
  • Testing and treatment for STDs 
  • Pregnancy testing 
  • Birth control 
  • Emergency contraception 
  • Male and female sterilization 
  • Other lab tests and immunizations, if needed

Education and Counseling 
  • Healthy lifestyle choices such as good nutrition, exercise, avoiding harmful substances and quitting smoking 
  • Breast exams
  • STD/HIV risks
  • Preconception health (planning a healthy pregnancy) including proper folic acid intake
  • Pregnancy counseling 
  • Infertility 
  • Referrals to other community resources
